Mary Ann
Dremstedt, RN, MS from Tampa, Florida received her Bachelor’s
degree in Nursing from Indiana University and her Master’s
degree in Business from University of South Florida. She has
worked in acute medical and surgical care, psychiatric services,
and long-term and managed care. MaryAnn was the Chief Nurse
Executive at John Knox Medical Center, Northside Centers, and
Sarasota Palms Hospital.
Mary Ann is a charter member of the American Psychiatric Nurses
Association as well as previously an adjunct Professor of the
University of Tampa and Humana Healthcare Institute. Her
experience also includes being an expert witness for the Florida
Board of Nursing. Mary Ann was cross-trained as an Administrator
Surveyor as well as a surveyor for the Ambulatory and Network
and Behavioral Health Programs at the JCAHO from 1994-2003 and
has been consulting for the past 10 years.

Thomas R. Zastowny, PhD
Dr. Zastowny is a Psychologist and Health care consultant with
over 20 years of experience and expertise in performance
improvement, outcome measurement and assessment, program design
and evaluation of health care systems, and statistics and
treatment planning. He has published over 100+ scientific
articles and book chapters in these arenas and has taught
throughout the country and the world. He is affiliated with the
University of Rochester Medical Center, the Joint Commission on
Healthcare (JCAHO), the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and is
completing several grants, teaching and involved in wide ranging
consultation activity.
Dr. Zastowny , a resident of Webster, New York was a JCAHO
surveyor for 15 years and special projects consultant since
1989. He is the author of “A Guide to Performance Improvement in
Behavioral Health Care Organizations” (1996). Dr Zastowny is
affiliated with the American Psychological Association, the
American Public Health Association, the American Sociological
Association, the Association for the Advancement of Behavioral
Therapy, the American Group Therapy Association, the Association
for Marriage and Family Therapy, the National Register of Health
Service Providers in Psychology, and the American Board of
Medical Psychotherapists.
