Ms. Ashley is a resident of Racine Wisconsin. She has a Bachelor
of Science in Nursing from Mount Scenario College, Lady Smith,
Wisconsin, and a Masters of Business Administration from Keller
Graduate School, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her former positions

Services/Regulatory Administration at All Saints Hospital in
Racine, Wisconsin, Director, Quality Improvement/Risk
Management/Case Management at St. Therese Hospital in Waukegan,
Illinois & Director, Quality Improvement/Utilization Review at
Greenbrier Hospital, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ms. Ashley has a
particular strength in assisting organizations with action
plans, clarification of Requirements for Improvement from the
Joint Commission, developing case management models as well as
assisting organizations in conducting Failure Modes & Effects
Analysis and Root Cause Analysis. She is certified in Case

Kenneth Dale Brown, MSN, RN received a Baccalaureate and Master
of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Alabama in
Birmingham. Previous positions include Staff nurse, Assistant
Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing at Baptist Medical
Center, Montgomery, Alabama, Assistant Professor of Nursing at
Troy State University, Montgomery, Alabama, Director of Critical
Care Services at St. Mary’s Medical Center, and Patient Care
Coordinator, Girling Home Health Care Agency, Knoxville,
Tennessee. From 1994 to 2003 Mr. Brown was employed by the Joint
Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. He has
had the opportunity to participate in education programs for a
number of state hospital associations as well as conducted
private consultation with many healthcare organizations since
1997. Has conducted private consultation with many organizations
for the past 10 years.

Stephen Dorman, MD
Physician
Consultant
Stephen Dorman, MD, a physician consultant for the past 10
years, received his undergraduate degree from Duke University,
his medical degree from the University of North Carolina, and
did his internship and residency in anesthesia at the Naval
Regional Medical Center in Oakland, California. He was a
physician surveyor in the hospital program at the Joint
Commission, a faculty member in the Department of Education at
the JCAHO from 1994-2003. He has presented seminars to many
national organizations and is considered to be an expert related
to standards involving Moderate Sedation and Medical Staff
issues. Dr. Dorman makes his home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Mary
Ann Dremstedt, RN, MS
Administrator
Consultant
Mary Ann Dremstedt, RN, MS from Tampa, Florida received her
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Indiana University and her
Master’s degree in Business from University of South Florida.
She has worked in acute medical and surgical care, psychiatric
services, and long-term and managed care. MaryAnn was the Chief
Nurse Executive at John Knox Medical Center, Northside Centers,
and Sarasota Palms Hospital.
Mary Ann is a charter member of the American Psychiatric Nurses
Association as well as previously an adjunct Professor of the
University of Tampa and Humana Healthcare Institute. Her
experience also includes being an expert witness for the Florida
Board of Nursing. Mary Ann was cross-trained as an Administrator
Surveyor as well as a surveyor for the Ambulatory and Network
and Behavioral Health Programs at the JCAHO from 1994-2003 and
has been consulting for the past 10 years.

Barbara M. Maher, RN, MSN

Consultant - Hospital
Ms. Maher received her Bachelors & Master’s Degree in Nursing
from the University of Texas, Austin. She was a Nurse Surveyor
with The Joint Commission for 9 years. Ms. Maher’s has
consultation experience in the following areas: Health Care
Management, Performance Improvement, Health Care Regulatory
Compliance, Clinical Risk Management & has conducted many
Classroom, Clinical and In-service education programs. Ms. Maher
has a vast clinical background in Medical-Surgical as well as in
and outpatient Psychiatric settings and has experience in
teaching nursing students. She is a member of the American
Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau, Nursing Honor Society.
Ms. Maher is currently a resident of Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Doris Herrlin, RN, MPA, NHA

Consultant - Hospital
Doris Herrlin is currently a resident of Clearwater, Florida.
She received her Diploma in Nursing at the Bryn Mawr Hospital
School of Nursing in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania; her Bachelor of
Arts Degree in Psychology/Health Care Administration at St. Leo
University in St. Leo, Florida; and her Masters of Public
Administration in Healthcare Administration degree at Golden
Gate University in San Francisco, California. She is also
certified as a Health Care Risk Manager and licensed as a
Nursing Home Administrator.
Mrs. Herrlin was a
Joint Commission surveyor from 1994 to 2004 and was trained and
certified under the Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for
Hospitals and the Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Long
Term Care. She is cross-trained in the Integrated Survey Process
for Hospitals, Networks, Home Care and Long Term Care. Mrs.
Herrlin was also trained to conduct hospital-sponsored
ambulatory surveys and Critical Access Hospital surveys and
Department of Defense hospital surveys.
Mrs. Herrlin has
been affiliated with the American Organization of Nurse
Executives, the Florida Organization of Nurse Executives, the
Florida Health Care Association, and the American Society on
Aging. She has been recognized in Who’s Who in Nursing.
