Ernest Allen
Mr. Allen has a Baccalaureate degree in Safety from Central
Missouri State University. He is also a member of the Board of
Certified Safety Professionals, Certified Safety Professional in
Management Aspects, and is an associate in Risk Management from
the Insurance Institute of America. His previous employment
includes Safety and Security Director for a 500 bed hospital in
Cleveland, Ohio, District Manager of Risk Management Department,
OHIC Insurance Company, and a Joint Commission Life Safety
Surveyor. Mr. Allen is a member of the Technical committee of
NFPA 110 for Emergency Power Supply systems that writes the
codes for installation, maintenance, and testing of emergency
generators used in health care facilities. His professional
affiliations also include: American Society of Healthcare
Engineers, American Society of Healthcare Risk Managers & Ohio
Society of Healthcare Risk Managers.

MARK SHAMASH, MS, HEM, CHSP
Mark Shamash MS, CHSP, HEM, is a Certified Healthcare Safety
Professional (CHSP) and Healthcare Environmental Manager (HEM).
He holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Safety Management. He
has provided support for approximately 70 healthcare facilities
ranging from mock surveys and continuous readiness support to
training, planning and operational programs for Emergency
Management and Environment of Care. Clients include large
academic teaching facilities, community hospitals of various
sizes and small critical access facilities.
Mark has worked in safety and healthcare fields for 12 years. In
addition to experience as the Director of Environmental Health
and Safety at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Mark was in
charge of safety and other Environment of Care areas at St.
Joseph Medical Center, Towson, MD. He is an instructor with ECRI
Institute’s Center for Healthcare Environmental Management and
Infection Control Risk Assessment programs.
